Today, we return to Livermore, California for part 2 of our conversation with the Purple Orchid. Derek and Rhiannon Eddy are serial entrepreneurs who’d never been in the resort business until they bought an ailing, wine-country resort and spa. After meeting in a 7am accounting class at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, they’ve never been apart. It’s somehow fitting that they focus on the wedding niche—and that’s why they bought the resort. They were also on the reality show Hotel Impossible, where they became one of the season’s top-rated episodes. It’s also how they’ve attracted visitors from as far away as the Czech Republic. Today, we hear about how it’s important to not think you know everything or that you can do it all yourself. That would seem self-evident—but we can all fall victim to it. We’re also going to hear about business-crisis management while managing a personally emergent situation. And, how being a good and active member of the community can be really good for your business.
